Healthy Eating For A Happy Body

Do you feel sluggish, suffer from a lack of energy or motivation? The cause could be as simple as needing to eat healthier as a healthy diet is fundamental to good health and well-being.

Why Is Eating Well Important?

Eating well has benefits that extend far beyond what you would probably imagine. A healthy diet will mean that you sleep better, have more energy, concentrate better, are more motivated and can even lead to healthier skin.

Those who eat well will generally:

  • Have a healthy weight

  • Have plenty of energy and be more active

  • Have stronger muscles

  • Generally feel good about themselves

  • Enjoy better physical and mental health

What Is Healthy Eating?

Healthy eating is all about eating the right foods in the right balance with each other. Many people think about cutting food out altogether as being healthy eating, however this is not the case as every type of food provides different benefits to the body.

We all know, for example, that too many sugary drinks and fatty foods can be bad for us, but have you considered that they are probably ok to eat, just not too often?

The NHS provides eight helpful tips on healthy eating and these are to:

1. Base your meals on higher fibre starchy carbohydrates

2. Eat lots of fruit and veg

3. Eat more fish, including a portion of oily fish

4. Cut down on saturated fat and sugar

5. Eat less salt: no more than 6g a day for adults

6. Get active and be a healthy weight

7. Do not get thirsty

8. Do not skip breakfast

What Should I Do If I Am Concerned?

If you are concerned about your health we would always recommend seeking professional advice. This may be by visiting your GP or popping into your local pharmacy for a consultation.

Alternatively, you may wish to enlist the services of a professional nutritionist who will be able to guide you through how to maintain a well balanced diet and keep your body happy through healthy eating!
