We all know that keeping active is a key factor in staying healthy, however, in the times when we are generally encouraged to remain at home to prevent the potential spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, it is all the more important to make sure you keep up the good work!
Why Keeping Active Is Important
There are a number of health advantages to keeping physically fit. Regular exercise and physical activity promote strong muscles and bones whilst also improving respiratory, cardiovascular health, and overall health.
Keeping active can also help maintain a healthy weight, reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and reduce your risk for some cancers. Because of this, staying active is an absolutely crucial part of maintaining good health and wellness.
The Best Ways To Stay Active
When we think about exercise and staying active, generally things such as heading to the gym or going for a long walk, jog, run, cycle or even playing sports come to mind.
However, these are not the only ways you can stay active and there are a variety different things that you could be doing which can be integrated into your day-to-day life!
Here are a couple of suggestions:
Walk more (rather than driving)
Stand up at work
Fidget whilst you work
Get a dog
Clean your house
Cook at home
Trade-in drinking for dancing
Fit in exercise during TV time
Join With A Friend
Our final suggestion is to partner up with a friend! Whilst you will probably not want to be competing with each other (although if you are the competitive type, this may drive you), if you opt to exercise outside of the home even if just once a week, it is often much more enjoyable to do with a friend.
You may choose to head out for a weekly stroll or other activity that helps you both stay fit and healthy. Perhaps you could even meet up and walk to the local cafe for a smoothie or other healthy treat from time to time!
The main thing about keeping fit is to make sure that you enjoy it. We continue to do the things we enjoy and that is certainly something you will want to prioritise!
